Families are being torn apart at the boarder as a result of the zero tolerance policy from Trump administration. And in the news we are hearing that 1500 children went missing at the boarder. As a mother, this breaks my heart to know that children are being taken from their parents and like many of you I want to know what we can do to use our voice and take action to stop these terrible events.

National Day of Action for Children | June 1, 2018

In response to the growing number of children and youth separated from their immigrant families at the border or their homes, and the thousands of children who have been harmed or abused by Trump’s immigration agencies, we are holding a non-violent National Day of Action for Children on Friday, June 1st. We demand that the Trump administration stop separating immigrant children and youth from their families and account for what is happening to all children in immigration custody.

Understanding the Family Separation Policy

Karina Cabrera Bell from Reach Mama Network interviewed Khadija Gurnah and Xochitl Oseguera about their work with MomsRising and the family separation policy. These fierce moms share how we can get involved and stop these cruel policies tearing families apart.

How can we use our voice and take action:

  • Calling for a National Day of Action for Children of June 1, 2018
  • Attend a rally for children www.momrising.org and here is one of the Bay Area rally locations: June 01, 2018 at 12:30 pm, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, 1401 Lakeside Dr., Oakland, CA 94612
  • Add your name to the petition to stop the action of family separation and any policies to stop terrorizing our communities
  • MomsRising has many more tools and resources
  • Donate to ACLU, KIND (Kids in Need of Defense) and Women’s Refugee Commission organizations that are on the frontlines helping the children
  • Share to raise awareness and visibility of family separation with these hash tags: #NotOneMore #LatinasCare #FamiliesBelongTogether #WhereAreTheChildren
