Let’s Get Loud about Latina Equal Pay Day

Share

Today, October 21, 2021, is Latina Equal Pay Day. This means it took Latinas in the workplace almost an entire extra year of full-time, year-round work to be paid the average annual earnings of a white man.

Lean In Latinas shared that on average Latinas in the U.S. are paid 45% less than white men and 30% less than white women. And the gap in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley is worse, where Latinas make 38 and 33.5 cents on the dollar, respectively. Lean In Latinas, along with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Es Tiempo, Latina Coalition Silicon Valley, Latino Business Action Network, and Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, are collectively collaborating to commit to close the wage gap.
