Hey ladies! Are you looking to achieve that flawless face? Well, here are some quick steps to achieve just that!
Step 1: Cleanse. Wash your face daily. Using a gentle cleansing cream rather than cleansing soap is important. Soap can be very harsh on skin and remove too many necessary oils. Cleansing creams tend to add moisture, which can be helpful for dry and problematic skin.
Step 2: Exfoliate. Exfoliation is the process to remove the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface to reveal the new skin beneath. Choosing an exfoliant that is right for your skin type is key. Exfoliants contain tiny scrubbers that remove dead skin cells that accumulate on the surface of the skin. This shedding of the outer layer will help to unclog pores, keep skin clean, and reduce acne breakouts, which helps make the skin appear younger, smoother, and brighter. There are many different options, some of which are more harsh than others. You do not want to over-exfoliate your skin, which dry out or irritate the skin, so make sure to very gently rub the exfoliant on your skin in small, slow, circular motions. The best types of exfoliants are the ones with tiny scrubbers with buffed edges, like beads, which are more gentle on the skin. One tool that I absolutely recommend for the exfoliation process would be the Clarisonic. This brush cleansing system removes 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone.
*Remember that exfoliation should be done 1-2 times a week only to maintain healthy, soft skin.
Step 3: Moisturize, Moisturize, and Moisturize!! Using your favorite moisturizer after cleansing your face is important. There are many out there, so find the right one for your skin type. Be sure to find one that contains SPF to protect your skin against the sun.
Step 4: Primer/Foundation. Next, apply a face primer. This helps prep the skin for makeup and creates a smooth base that your foundation can adhere to. The right primer also helps to fill in and smooth out lines and minimize pores. Now, you can apply your favorite liquid, powder or mineral foundation. Don’t forget your neck; you want to achieve a blended look without harsh lines or two tones.
5: Correct and conceal. Apply a corrector and or concealer to your trouble areas, such as blemishes, acne, and dark under eye circles, or any redness that may appear on the skin.
*Optional step: You can set your foundation with a translucent or, if you prefer, a color powder that matches your skin tone. If you want to set your powder/mineral foundation, you can opt for a setting spray!
