Our written word expression is so beautiful, and we are looking for some talented Latina poets to be featured as part of Modern Latina’s Quinceañera celebration. Selected poets will be featured in a video recording as part of Modern Latina’s Quince celebration. Additionally, your original work will be showcased in Modern Latina’s 15th Anniversary Commemorative Digital Edition.
The submission deadline is November 7, 2020.
Here is how you can be featured?
1) Click here to complete form by November 7, 2020.
- Submit your original poem with the title
- Poem can be in Spanish. Please also provide a Spanish and English version for the print publication.
- Submit your bio
- Include a high-resolution .jpg photo
2) Submit a video recording via Google Shared drive to modernlatinaeditor@gmail.com.
- Get creative with your recording with either a cool backdrop or a place that inspires your poetry. The video you submit will be the video that is included in the Quince Celebration.
- The best format for video is horizontal, 1080p. iPhones and Android have great cameras. To record audio, have the poets stand no more than 2 feet away. Big Tips 1. Try to place the camera on a tripod or stable surface. 2. After hitting the record button, count to 5 (in their head) before speaking, and after speaking, count to 5 (in the head) before you move to stop the recording.
- Include an intro with your name, name of the poem, and a bit about it. See example introduction here: Hi, I am (name), and I am from (place). This is (poem) it’s (a little about the poem), here is my poem (read the poem).
Additional details:
- Winners will permit Modern Latina to use biography and photo(s) for distribution via ModernLatina.com, social media channels, magazines, and videos. The winner may be asked to provide additional images to supplement the featured article in Modern Latina’s 15th Anniversary Commemorative Digital Edition and any other content created for Modern Latina. By submitting your entry into this contest, you agree to have your original poem, video, and photo included in Modern Latina’s Quince video, magazine, and website. You may also be asked to complete a photo release.
