This holiday began in Mexico since 1925, and it’s a day to show our children that they are loved, appreciated, and important. Festivities include games, music, and food.     Even though Trick or Treating is canceled this year, it doesn’t mean the celebrations have to stop, at least not virtually. I asked my girls if they wanted a virtual Halloween party or Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) con los Amigos party. Under this forced arrangement, many of us continue to grapple with an enormous amount of stress as we navigate necessary conversations about race and racism in our homes. All of that while grappling with the idea that in order to keep our kids safe, we must gravitate toward the “age appropriate” sheltering of our children, even as we shelter in place.
