Color Your Heart Out

Share

Valentine’s Day is a few days away, and I have the perfect craft activity for kids. Wondering what to do with all the broken color crayons? I have the ideal activity to reuse those broken pieces of crayons to create a beautiful heart-shaped crayon. These beautiful heart-shaped crayons also make an excellent alternative to swap out for a sweet treat for your children’s classroom party.

The heart-shaped crayons are super easy to make, and my kids loved making them. After they came out of the oven, my girls marveled at how beautiful their creations had come out so much that they didn’t want to use them! Your kids will love coloring with these crayons because each stroke is a burst of colors on the page. Have fun!!

What you need:

  • Broken crayons
  • Old knife
  • Heart-shaped baking pan

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees
  • Peel the paper off all of the crayons.
  • Break each crayon into small pieces and organize different color pieces into a tray.
  • Please the different color pieces in each of the heart molds. Get creative; you can put all the colors together or group like color shades together.
  • Place cookie sheet in the oven for 12- 15 minutes. Check to ensure that crayons are entirely melted before taking them out of the oven.
  • Allow the heart-shaped crayons to cool and then pop them out of the pan.
