My girls are growing up so fast. For that reason, I am always looking for crafts to capture their little handprints and these adorable mason jar vases are so fun. I love this craft even more because we are upcycling all of those coffee and spaghetti jars.
These decorated jars make the best gifts for Mother’s Day, Teacher’s Appreciation Day, or a gift for a neighbor. And these jars can be used for more than a vase to hold flowers. The jars can hold utensils, pencils, toothbrushes, candy, and so much more.
Supplies:
- Mason jars
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
- Mod Podge
Instructions:
- Clean the jars by placing in a large pot of water and boil for about 10 minutes. The labels should easily peel off. If there is still glue residue, you can either use alcohol to wipe off or some olive oil and wire to peal off.
- Paint the jars and let dry. This step can be repeated until you have a solid coat of color.
- Children can paint their hand and apply their handprint to the jar to personalize it.
- Let the jar dry overnight and then apply a coat to seal the jar. You can use Mod Podge or Satin or Matte spray can to finish.
