Feliz Dia del Niño

Every year, Día del Niño (Day of the Child) is celebrated in Mexico and many Latin American countries on April 30th. This holiday began in Mexico in 1925, and it’s a day to show our children that they are loved, appreciated, and important. The day of festivities includes games, food, and music.

Celebrating Día del Niño with your Family

I love Día del Niño holiday because it is a wonderful way for me to spend a day with my daughters. I can share my love for them and let them know how important they are. There are so many ways your family can celebrate Día del Niño, from fun excursions to games and more. Here are a few ideas for bringing this tradition to your family.

Appreciation gift bag
Give your little ones a bag filled with a little toy and their favorite treats. We love these personalized tumblers created by Crafty Chica – how cute is that!!

Visit a local museum or aquarium

Get kids exploring by visiting a local attraction that will promote learning and discovering.

Enjoy nature

Dedicate the day to getting outdoors by hiking, playing at a park, or flying a kite at the beach.

Chalk art and bubbles

You can also keep it simple with home activities like making chalk art or having a backyard bubble party.

Baking or cooking a special dish together

Kids love to help in the kitchen, and my kids are obsessed with baking competition shows. You could bake a cake and decorate it with “Feliz Día del Niño” or make a traditional Mexican dessert like flan. If baking isn’t your thing, you could also buy some pan dulce to start the day.

Go to the movies

Take a family trip to the local movie theatre to watch a kid’s pick movie. This weekend The Bad Guys cartoon is in theaters.
