Macy’s Heart of Haiti: A Mother’s Day Gift that Gives Back

by Linda Castillo

Looking for a Mother’s Day gift that gives back? Then you are going to love Macy’s Heart of Haiti collection which includes beautiful and unique handcrafted vases, jewelry, frames, home décor, and more. This is a “trade, not aid” program providing sustainable income to Haitian artisans struggling to rebuild their lives and support their families after the 2010 earthquake.

As you check out the website, you will be able to see videos of the artisans making the crafts and learn more about each artisan’s amazing stories making each piece even more special. We loved all the pieces in the collection, but here are a few of our favorite picks for mom:

Purchasing a unique piece from Macy’s Heart of Haiti collection is just one way to give back to a community in need.  As a mother now, I am going to try to raise my daughter to understand the importance of giving back to the community and helping others in need. I want to build traditions that our family gives back to the community such as participating in a beach clean-up or helping at the local food bank. In the end, I want my daughter to know that one person can make a difference.
