One of my selfish indulgences is to grab a glass of wine and binge-watch a good show! Netflix never disappoints with its original movies. I finally found time to watch the anticipated Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado. And it did not disappoint.

Originally premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, it is now available to stream now on Netflix.

Co-directors Cristina Costantini and Kareem Tabsch, and producer Alex Fumero are the Latinx storytellers who fought to bring the intriguing story of one of beloved Puerto Rican television astrologer. NPR reported that Walter’s broadcasts reached an estimated 120 million Latino viewers daily for more than three decades.

Sadly, shortly before the documentary came out, Mercado passed away in November 2019. Walter always signed off with a positive message that is still popular today: “Reciban de mi siempre mucho paz, pero sobre todo mucho mucho mucho amor.” May you receive from me always, peace, lots of peace, but above all, lots and lots of love. This documentary shares the life of a Latino community icon whose message of hope and faith now transcends future generations.

Netflix’s synopsis:

Dazzling and tender-hearted, legendary astrologer Walter Mercado vanished at the peak of his fame. This documentary poignantly explains what happened.
