I was fortunate to attend this year’s We All Grow summit featuring many spectacular speakers and connect with so many amazing Latinas. One of the speakers who inspired me was hearing native Venezuelan Mariana Atencio share her heartfelt story about being an immigrant in the USA navigating both adversity and opportunity. She shared how her unique perspective, experience and background enabled her to become a bilingual award-winning journalist for NBC News, Fusion TV, and Univision.
Mariana is one of the most prominent Latinx faces in TV news and as such is in a unique position to be a catalyst for women to find the power of being true to one self.
“It’s not about hiring someone who is a minority and then morphing that voice into an existing one. It’s about retaining your authenticity so you can keep reflecting the needs of your community. That’s truly my purpose,” Mariana said in a recent People en Español interview.
In her new memoir, Perfectly You: Embracing the Power of Being Real, Mariana shares her unique background and life story while providing readers a blueprint to celebrating their authentic self.
I can’t wait to start reading this book; it’s the perfect pick to recharge!
