The Hola Mexico Film Festival at Maya Cinemas from September 9-15



The Hola Mexico Film Festival is the largest festival of Mexican Cinema outside of Mexico. It is a yearly event that takes place every May in Downtown Los Angeles and goes on tour during the summer months. It showcases the best of Mexican film in a variety of categories, and the tour is comprised of the 10 best films of the festival. Dir. Diego Luna
Cast: Danny Glover, Maya Rudolph, Jose Maria Yazpik
Mexico 2016, 100 MIN 
Ambrose Eubanks (Danny Glover), an old-school pig farmer from California, leaves his foreclosed family farm and sets off on a road trip to Mexico with Howard, his last beloved and very large pig. Ambrose must smuggle Howard across the border to find him a new home.

Monica is a social worker from Mexico City, who’s child is suffering from a degenerative illness in his eyes. Having exhausted all other options, a corneal transplant is her only hope. Overwhelmed by the ineffectiveness of the health system and the scarcity of resources, she decides on an extreme solution, within the world of street children.

Paradise Lost
