Sometimes you start following someone on social media that can leave a lasting impression on you forever. Kyrzayda Rodriguez (@kyrzayda_) is one fashion blogger that everyone fell in love with instantly. Her passion, humor, and fearless sense of style captivated so many. She was a true warrior who motivated us all when she showed us her vulnerability, strength and grace as she battled stomach cancer.

During this past fashion week, a special tribute for Kyrzayda was started to show her how much she meant to everyone by using the hashtag #youinspireuskyrzayda.

“Go, do it, don’t wait for another day, or another hour or another time. Go and do it now” were @kyrzayda_ exact words from her last IG live. Kyrzayda your courage and love for life will always inspire us.

This was @kyrzayda_ ‘s last live on Thursday evening. Just watching her like this initially was heartbreaking …to see what this sickness did to her physically ..but it couldn’t touch her spirit. She was CLEAR on her message ..and made sure she sent it out the world …. “GO…DO IT …DON’T WAIT FOR ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER HOUR, OR ANOTHER TIME…GO & DO IT…NOW!” 🙌🏾. I loved that she didn’t care about being “perfect” (as perfect and beautiful as her posts and pictures were) she shared ..even at her weakest moments ..she didn’t hide. To me, that was the most BEAUTIFUL part. Her strength and her courage was beautiful. I recorded this live to keep as inspiration for whenever I’m feeling down , or weak ..or find myself complaining about little things. I’m so happy I did and I’m so happy and honored to share it with the world. Thank you @kyrzayda_ for your LIGHT and ZEST for life. We’re all better because you were here. Thank you for EVERYTHING …you were graceful .. a warrior …and SLAYED till the very end. Funny thing is, I “followed” her before I followed her and once I did I realized why she was so amazing. Not simply for her style; but she had mad style…refer to the IG pic, but because she made the hundreds of us following her feel like we were her best friend. I remember leaving a comment on a blog post of hers and she shouting me out via IG stories and I wanted to die! From that point on when I would comment on a pic, she would respond and it made me feel even more connected to her. I tuned in to every live she had and took to heart everything she said; girl dropped mad GEMS y’all! She had a hustle and drive even until the end that was just unreal. She was a blogger I looked up to, aspired to be and will miss the sparkle she brought to all who were touched by her. Rest in Power @kyrzayda_ #youinspireuskyrzayda • • • ——— We talk a lot about the power of influence in this space; how to get it, how to grow it, how to keep it. As a refresh my feed to see the outpouring of love for this woman whom many of us have never met personally, I understand that it’s just being yourself…nothing more, nothing less. Her influence to change how ethnic bloggers are seen and represented, how #communityovercompetition is the golden rule and nothing beats hard work will carry on in this space forever. Social media get a bad wrap for dividing us but I would argue it brings more of us together, this moment of many of us celebrating @kyrzayda_ life is small proof in that argument. I thank her for her leadership in this space and for keeping to door open for others to walk thru with a smile on her face.

She was light and love personified. I wish I could’ve followed her longer, but I am grateful to have found her in this space. I so loved her posts and her fabulous and fun style, and looked forward to her fresh perspectives. She taught us all how to live with gratitude and intention. She did what she loved until the very end. She was a fighter, and she gave it her all.
