Happy World Oceans Day!
June 8 is World Oceans Day and we wanted to share four ways you can support cleaner oceans:
1)Participate in a beach cleanup
Spend the day with your family and friends to participate in a local beach cleanup.
2) Act for our Ocean
Our friends at the Monterey Bay Aquarium are sharing their love for the ocean by urging Congress to support science-based laws and policies that protect ocean health. Click here to tell Congress you support ocean health
3) Eliminate Single-Use Plastics
Plastic pollution is one of the greatest threats to ocean health worldwide, and the best thing we can do is stop using single-use plastic. There are many ways that you can help reduce ocean plastic pollution, but one of the easiest is to avoid single-use plastic. Some single-use plastic items you can eliminate from your use include disposable water bottles, straws, cups and lids, utensils, and bags.
4) Share your knowledge
Stay on top of ocean conservation issues by following World Oceans day at https://worldoceanday.org/ to learn about events, resources, and more. Be an ocean advocate by sharing information and learning about ocean conservation. Here is a list of documentaries to learn more about ocean wildlife and conservation issues: Mission Blue, Our Planet: Coastal Seas or High Seas, My Octopus Teacher, Disneynature: Oceans, The Blue Planet, Sharkwater, A Plastic Ocean, and to name a few.
