The middle of winter takes a toll on all types of hair – help keep it in shape with these additional winter survival tips.
- To beat static and excess frizz, use a lightweight spray such as Living Proof Wave Shaping, Curl Defining No Frizz Styling Spray for Fine to Medium Hairon either damp or dry hair, especially effective on days in-between shampooing. This brand is free from silicone and mineral oil so hair won’t get weighed down or attract additional oils and debris, and the spray has a formula for straight making or wave/curl enhancing.
- Don’t have an extra 15-20 minutes to wait for your deep conditioning mask to work? Use it as an overnight mask and shampoo and condition as usual in the morning. Bonus: body heat will allow the mask to penetrate past the cuticle. Ones to try: Bumble and bumble Deeep Masque formulated with soy and wheat proteins, panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and hydrolyzed silk, or SachaJuan – Hair Repair – 250 ml which contains a proprietary Ocean Silk Technology and panthenol.
- You want a regular trim but don’t want to part with too much length? Ask your styling for a “dusting” on the ends, which usually only trims 1/4 inch or less off. For those with a steady hand, perform the dusting by using barber shears with a tempered tip.
