Are you looking to achieve that perfect lip. Well fret no more here is a bullet-proof method to keep your lipstick from running, bleeding and sliding off those gorgeous lips. So pucker up and lets get started.

Here are some simple steps to follow before actual application of your lipstick:

1) You always need to start by prepping the skin.

So to achieve that you need to prep and prime your lips. Start off by moisturizing with a lip balm overnight (this works while you’re sleeping). I absolutely love the MAC Viva Glam Ricky Lip conditioner and Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment but any lip balm of your choice will do. It is best to have smooth clean lips that your lipstick can adhere to for a flawless application. Just like you would want for your face when applying foundation.

2) Next step you’ll want to do in the morning is exfoliate.

There are a few inexpensive ways to exfoliate your lips, some of which you can make at home with just a few products you might already have on hand.

Method 1: Toothbrush You want to use a soft toothbrush with straight bristles and place a small amount of petroleum jelly on it. Next you want to rub the toothbrush on your lips in circular motions. Then wipe clean with a warm cloth.

Method 2: Honey Sugar Scrub. This is another simple and easy method just take some granulated sugar and honey mix it all together. You will want to use less sugar than honey when mixing. Then you simply apply the honey sugar scrub in a circular motion and leave it for a couple minutes or so. Then rinse off your lips.

Method 3: Purchase a lip exfoliator.  A few of my favorites are Fresh Sugar Lip Polish and Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub Bliss.

3) After the exfolation process you are ready to achieve that perfect lip.

  • Step 1: Line your lips with a pencil and create a desired shape. Fill in your entire lips with the pencil This helps create a base for your lip color to hold on to during the day. If you cannot find an exact match you may go for a shade darker.
  • Step 2: Apply a lipstick using a lip brush, this helps work the product into all the crevices.  Then Blot with a tissue and re-apply. You want to focus on the center of the lips and then blot again.

You may also use the old finger trick. Just put your index finger in your mouth to form an O shape around your finger, then gently slide your finger straight out of your mouth.  Any excess lipstick that would have gotten on your teeth will now be on your finger (which you can easily wash off).

A few extra tips:

* When exfoliating be gentle with your lips. Scrubbing too hard or for too long will leave them sore, cracked and chapped.

* Never apply chapstick, right before or after lipstick application. Lip balm meddles with the lipstick formula causing it to run, bleed and slide off the lips. Be sure to blot with a tissue to remove any excess oils prior to your lipstick application.

Muaaaaah!
