For many spring is their favorite season – warm weather, blooming flowers, and longer days. But for allergy sufferers spring is not just a time for new beginnings but also beginning of the dreaded allergy season caused by high pollen counts, smog and pollution.

Just because you have allergies doesn’t mean that you have to let the symptoms get in the way of how fabulous you look. ZYRTEC® has teamed up with beauty and fashion expert, Carmen Ordoñez from VivaFashionBlog.com, to provide tips to combat #ALLERGYFACE.

Carmen recommends the following ways to disguise he beauty challenges like a puffy face, watery eyes and a red nose that are associated with typical allergy symptoms

  • How to Disguise a Red Nose: Use a foundation or bronzer with a dewy or shimmery finish instead of a matte finish, which will only highlight dryness.
  • How to Contour a Puffy Face: Using an angle brush, apply a bronzer with brown undertones parallel to your jawline to help contour your face. Make sure it’s only one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone as you don’t want to overdo it.
  • How to Distract from Watery Eyes: Dab a white or silver shimmery eye shadow in the inner corner of your eyes.

In addition to Carmen’s tips, I recommend to applying a lightweight moisturizer under your makeup to prevent dry, flaky and irritated skin caused from allergies. I would also keep the moisturizer in your purse in case you need to moisturize during the day. To counteract redness in your eyes, use navy or cobalt blue eyeliner on the top and bottom lash line. If you are hesitant to trying out a colored eyeliner, be assured that the blue will not look over the top but rather freshen up your eyes.
