In your 40’s, skincare doesn’t just stop at the face:, the neck, décolleté, hands and body now show the signs from 40+ years of lifestyle changes and exposure to environmental factors. Learn how to extend the anti-aging process from beyond the face to truly take care of your skin from head to toe.

Neck and Décolleté

This area is referred to as “the French face” since women in France rely on specific products or spa treatments to lift, sculpt and firm the neck and décolleté. Although the skin and muscles are twice as thick, consider that the neck supports the head and the décolleté is a focal point, especially in summertime. The good news is that regular face products (serums, moisturizers and SPFs) can be extended to this area, but for targeted concerns, Clarins Advanced Extra Firming Neck Cream, 1.6-Ounce Box uses sunflower oil and oat sugars to hydrate, strengthen and minimize lines and crepiness.

Hands and Body

Next to the face, many people can tell a person’s age or even occupation by the condition of a person’s hands. Therefore, hand care is not just a trend but an essential, especially in winter months.  Always use a hand cream after washing and consider using an SPF formula year round, especially in the summertime.  Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Correcting Hand Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15 — 1 oz / 30 ml targets age spots with mulberry and vitamin E while providing lightweight hydration with shea butter.

For the body, use a daily exfoliating body wash (without a microbead to avoid overdrying) to increase cell turnover and target uneven skin tone on arms and legs. Caress Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash, 18Ounce Bottle (Pack of 3) gently speeds up exfoliation for better retention of body lotions and butters.

Follow with a lightweight but hydrating body lotion that supports skin structure while evening out skin tone.  The cocoa butter in Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion Cocoa Radiant 10oz (2 Pack) or Olay Quench Daily Lotion Plus Shimmer Body Lotion 20.2 Fl Oz (Pack of 2)
not only supports moisture levels but gradually evens out tan lines and body “freckles.”

Tips and Tricks

  • An easy and inexpensive hand scrub can be made with products in your bathroom and kitchen cabinets. On dry hands, mix 1-2 pumps of body lotion and 1 tbsp. of granulated white sugar and massage for 1-2 minutes. Let sit for another 1-2 minutes and rinse with warm water for super smooth, soft hands and cuticles.
