Linda Castillo, the visionary behind Modern Latina, embarked on her journey in the Mass Communication program, driven by a passion for storytelling and community building. Her dedication to empowering Latina voices led to the creation of this platform, which has grown into a vibrant community of writers and readers. Linda’s commitment to celebrating Latina culture and stories is at the heart of Modern Latina’s mission.

What started as my passion project has become a collective effort to empower Latina voices.

OUR STORY

In 2005, I founded Modern Latina to celebrate Latina empowerment, designed to inspire and uplift Latinas. Initially, it was just me writing articles and sharing my own story. However, as Modern Latina grew, I was joined by a team of talented Latina writers who brought diverse perspectives and experiences to the online magazine.

Over the years, we have cultivated a strong connection with our audience, providing a space for multi-generational conversations, sharing stories of success and leadership, and addressing critical issues within the Latino community.

OUR PURPOSE

At Modern Latina, our mission is clear – to serve as a conduit for positive change by offering meaningful opportunities for Latinas to advance, connect, give back, and thrive. What started as my passion project has evolved into a collective effort to empower Latina voices and showcase the incredible contributions of our community. I also started the Modern Latina Book Club to provide a space to support Latinx authors and engage our community in discussions on literature discussions, author talks, and events.

I am proud of the impact Modern Latina has had on the lives of Latinas, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey.
