Celebrating my Mexican heritage and culture is something that I do every day with my family, from my cooking, the books we read, the movies we watch, and the paintings adorned on our home’s walls. I want my daughters to grow up with a sense of pride for who they are and know about our ancestors’ journey. Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to share with everyone that we are a diverse group with so many beautiful traditions and stories as Latinos.

I also take trips with my daughters to museums and art galleries to be exposed to different stories and points of view. I think it’s important for my daughters to understand that many of our stories may be similar or different, but our diversity makes us stronger as Americans.

Sharing our individual stories is a wonderful way to celebrate our Hispanic culture. I was excited to check out Xfinity’s “Fabric of America” Digital Flag. During Hispanic Heritage Month, you can hear the amazing stories of others and share your own story.

It’s pretty cool! The sound waves from the voices from all of the uploaded narratives become digital threads that form the fabric of this 3D American flag. You should check it out to see how the magic comes together to create this remarkable experience.

It’s super easy to record your story, and it takes less than 5-minutes to do. You can be a part of this beautiful living and visual experience by recording your story here https://www.fabricofthenation.com/.

Let’s celebrate our Latino voices!

Modern Latina shares the stories of incredible Latinas. In partnership with Comcast, we are very honored to host an upcoming event featuring Amelia Ceja, Founder and President of Ceja Vineyards, on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 6:30PM PT.

Amelia will share her inspirational story, how in one generation, the Ceja family has gone from immigrant vineyard workers to grape growers and winery owners. Today Ceja Vineyards is one of Napa Valley’s leading boutique wineries, producing premium estate grown wines from the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Amelia and her family’s story is one that has forged a path for other generations to follow.

Amelia Ceja’s family’s story and our own family stories give us hope for future generations. It is through these stories of resilience that we can find togetherness and strength in our voices. Let’s celebrate our Latino voices!
